The second sentence starter in the Speaking and Listening section is ‘When speaking to an audience …’ This sentence starter is connected to the following sub-strands:

  • Language for interacting with others, and Language for expressing and developing ideas (from the Language strand)
  • no sub-strands from the Literature strand
  • Interacting with others, Phonic and word knowledge, Texts in context, and Creating texts (from the Literacy strand).

The first sentence starter in the Reading and Viewing section is ‘When reading and viewing texts …’ This sentence starter is connected to the following sub-strands:
